with Chefs Taylor Montgomery, Shane McAnelly & Calluna Wines
Wed | Aug 19, 2026 | 6:00 pm | The Soil Remembers at True West
Dinner to immediately follow in the Grange Hall
This month, Once a Month at DCK begins not at the table, but in the dark of the theater. We’re joined by Chef Taylor Montgomery — Executive Chef and Head Farmer of Montgomery Sky Farm and, as of June 2026, the James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: Southeast — for an evening that traces a single thread from soil to plate.
The night opens at 6:00 PM at True West Theater with a screening of The Soil Remembers, Chef Montgomery’s film on regenerative farming and the long memory of the land. From his 100-year-old farm in Leicester, North Carolina, Taylor leads a "Seed to Plate" program that revives heirloom and endangered varieties, restores soil health, and rebuilds local food resilience — work that earned him the City of Asheville’s 2025 Hero of Hospitality Award after he helped provide more than 15,000 farm-sourced meals in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Dinner follows immediately in the Grange Hall at DCK, where Chef Montgomery cooks side by side with Chef Shane McAnelly — two farmer-chefs translating that same philosophy into a menu rooted in Sonoma County’s growers and Taylor’s own harvest.
